Qatar projects to continue ?

Qatar unlike all of its GCC oil exporting counterparts who have begun to curb spending or review costly consumer subsidies, will not scale back economic development projects or cut state subsidies for fuel and food at this conjecture of low oil and natural gas prices, because government finances remain strong, the Finance Minister said on Monday.

It’s business as usual for Qatar; projects to continue

Qatar Academy has officially moved to Msheireb Downtown Doha, a large derelict urban district of Doha centre that was systematically gutted out and recently rebuilt new in its entirety from scratch.  It is the world’s first sustainable town centre urban renewal project.  Its brief is to regenerate and preserve the historical central core of Doha.

A massive $5.5 billion project to redevelop Doha town centre area has finally started coming online, with the opening of its first building this week that is the Qatar Academy Msheireb.

Qatar Academy is an organisation of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), and partner in Msheireb Properties, owner of the urban renewal district.   It is fundamentally a quasi-private school for primary and secondary education.

It was announced last week that Qatar Academy Msheireb (QA Msheireb) has officially moved to Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD).  Teaching at QA Msheireb classrooms began on Tuesday 9 September, opening its doors to young children meeting their new teachers for the first time.

Qatar Foundation informs that QA Msheireb whilst being the fifth Qatar Academy to open, it offers a dual language high standards and benchmarks based programme of learning in both English and Arabic.

Establishing this school in the background of the MDD reflects Msheireb Properties’ objective of creating an environment that caters to the needs of all its residents and marks a significant milestone in the development of MDD, The Peninsula Doha newspaper reports.

John Mc Aslan & Partners, the architect designer of the school elaborates in his website.

“This primary school acts as the gateway to the new heart of the city centre in the Msheireb Downtown project.”
